Why Does My Saxophone Sound Airy or Weak?
Airy sound usually means loose embouchure or weak breath support.
Airy Sound Checklist
1. Embouchure Seal (Most Common)
- Lower lip sealed tight?
- Cheeks firm against jaw?
- Corner air leaks?
- Too loose?
2. Breath Support
- Diaphragm engaged?
- Enough air speed?
- Is the air "scattered"?
3. Reed Condition
- Reed too soft?
- Too old (many plays)?
- Cracked?
4. Placement Depth
- Too shallow?
- Try taking more mouthpiece
